Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia is a people-oriented aid program run by the Malaysian Federal government and was launch in 2012. The aim of the government to adopt the BR1M scheme was to provide monetary assistance to those households and poor families living in poverty. Under the program, the family and individual with a total income of RM3, 000 or less per month are eligible to get assistance from the government. Such assistance is initiated so that there will be less financial burden and cost of living in the country.
According to the BR1M 2019 eligibility requirement, the recipient has to be a citizen of the country and should reside in Malaysia. The total assistance according to the category is that each household that has income below RM2000 will be given RM1000. That household with the income of RM2001-3000 can be given RM750 and the household with an income of RM3001-4000 can be given RM500. Additional BSH rate of RM120 per child aged 18 years and under (limited to 4 persons) is also provided under the BSH 2019 scheme. Under the BSH program, the Death Khairat Scheme is also made acceptable to the BSH recipients who died within 1 January 2019 until 31 December 2019 but this scheme is for the category of household or senior citizens only. To avoid any kind of fraud cases and ensure that only qualified recipients receive the subsistence, IRB will make a thorough review of every application made. The information filled in and submitted will be reviewed and referred to the departments such as the National Registration Department before being confirmed.
For recipients who do not have a bank account, an approval voucher will be issued and the voucher may be issued at any branch of Bank Simpanan Nasional. The eligible recipient can visit the scheme BSH web portal or use the BSH applications on Android and iPhone to revise their status.
